Mole Removal in Brentwood: Why Every Treatment Starts With an Assessment

If you have a mole you would like removed, it is natural to want to get straight to treatment. In this article we explain why mole removal at 65Beauty always starts with an assessment, what to tell the team, and the questions to ask about suitability, approach and aftercare.

The video uses real treatment footage. It does not diagnose the mole shown, confirm that any mole is harmless, or promise a particular method or result.

Our treatments start with an assessment

At 65Beauty, a nurse-led, CQC-registered clinic at 39 Kings Road, Brentwood, mole removal begins with a conversation and an assessment, not with a procedure. Moles vary widely, and what looks similar on the surface can need a very different approach.

An assessment gives our medical team the chance to look at the mole, understand your history and decide whether removal at the clinic is appropriate. Mole removal is not right for everyone, and in some cases the right next step is referral or further assessment elsewhere rather than removal.

A new or changing mole needs clinical assessment

This is the most important point in this article. A new mole, or a mole that is changing, needs appropriate clinical assessment. That decision should never be based on appearance alone, and a photograph on social media cannot provide a diagnosis.

Changes worth mentioning include a mole that is new, growing, changing shape or colour, itching, bleeding or looking different from your other moles. If you notice any of these, please seek appropriate clinical assessment promptly. That may include speaking to your GP. Our team will also tell you if they feel you need to be seen elsewhere.

What to tell the team

You will get the most from your assessment if you come prepared. Tell the team:

  • What you have noticed, including when you first saw the mole and how long it has been there.

  • Any changes you are concerned about, such as size, shape, colour or texture.

  • Your relevant history, including previous skin concerns, treatments or family history you are aware of.

  • Why you are thinking about removal, for example if it catches on clothing or jewellery, or simply bothers you.

There is no wrong reason to ask. Clear information helps the team give you honest, appropriate advice.

Questions to ask at your assessment

An assessment is your chance to understand your options before deciding anything. Questions worth asking include:

  • Is removal suitable for me? The team will explain whether removal is appropriate, and why.

  • What approach may be used? Different moles may call for different methods. Ask what is being proposed and what it involves.

  • What aftercare should I expect? Ask how to look after the area, what is normal while it heals and who to contact if you are concerned.

Common short-lived effects after skin procedures can include redness, tenderness and minor swelling around the treated area. Your practitioner will talk you through aftercare that applies to you. Results vary, including how the skin heals and how any mark settles over time.

Common questions

Can you tell me whether my mole is harmless from a photo?

No. A photo or social-media image cannot provide a diagnosis. A new or changing mole needs appropriate clinical assessment in person.

Will my mole be removed on the day of the assessment?

That depends on the assessment. The team will discuss suitability and the proposed approach with you first.

Who can have mole removal at the clinic?

Cosmetic skin treatments are for adults aged 18 and over and are subject to an individual assessment.
