PRP in Brentwood: Amanda from Reception Shares Her Own Experience
Amanda is usually the first person you meet at 65Beauty, but she has also been on the other side of the reception desk. In this post she shares her own experience of PRP, and our nurse-led team explains what platelet-rich plasma is, how the treatment works and what to expect at your appointment.
This video uses an AI-generated version of Amanda's voice and likeness, made with her consent. The treatment footage is real and filmed with consent.
Amanda's experience
Amanda works on our reception team. She is not a nurse or practitioner, and she is not here to give clinical advice. What she can share is her own story as a client.
In her words, she has had "quite a few PRP treatments", and she feels they have really brightened her skin and given her a lovely glow. She also mentions that PRP is popular with people who would like a more natural approach, because the treatment uses a preparation made from your own blood.
Amanda's experience is personal to her. Everyone's skin is different, and results vary from person to person.
What is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Plasma is the liquid part of your blood, and platelets are small cells within it. For a PRP treatment, a concentrated layer of plasma is prepared from a small sample of your own blood.
Because it is prepared from your own blood on the day, PRP is often chosen by clients who prefer a treatment based on their own body's resources. It is still a medical procedure, so it is not right for everyone, and it always begins with a consultation.
How the treatment works
The process shown in Amanda's video follows three simple stages:
A small blood sample. The nurse takes a small sample of your blood, much like a routine blood test.
Separating the plasma. The sample is placed in a centrifuge, which spins it to separate the plasma from the rest of the blood.
Applying or injecting. The prepared plasma is then applied to the skin or injected into the treatment area. In some cases it may be used alongside microneedling.
The footage in the video is real treatment footage from our clinic, filmed with consent, showing the blood sample, the centrifuge and plasma preparation.
Who PRP may suit
PRP may be considered by adults who would like to support the look of their skin's brightness and overall quality, and who prefer a treatment prepared from their own blood. It is not suitable for everyone. Certain medical conditions, medications and blood-related issues may mean another option is more appropriate.
Your practitioner will check suitability at a consultation before any treatment goes ahead. If PRP is not the right fit, they will tell you honestly and talk through alternatives.
What happens at your appointment
Every treatment at 65Beauty begins with a face-to-face consultation with one of our nurses. They will ask about your medical history, any medication you take, your lifestyle and what you would like to achieve.
If PRP is suitable and you are happy to go ahead, the nurse will explain each step before starting. You are welcome to ask questions at any point, and there is never any pressure to book a treatment on the day.
After your treatment
It is common to have some short-lived redness, swelling or tenderness in the treated area, and occasionally a small bruise where the blood sample was taken. These usually settle within a few days.
Your practitioner will talk you through aftercare for your specific treatment, including how to look after your skin in the days that follow and when you can return to your usual routine.
